Prayer
Prayer is key to our relationship with God our Father. Prayer
is simply talking to your best mate about things that are concerning
you, issues that you want changing in your life and also listening to
what God would want to say to you.
Prayer - Intercession Team
We have a team of people lead by Vicky Ward who get together
monthly and pray, these times are spent either praying inside, prayer
walking and occassionally with teaching for the well being of the
Church. They pray for the members and leaders.
Sheffield Prayer Centre
Sheffield
Prayer
Centre is a movement of prayer for Sheffield and beyond. It has been
born out
of a passion to pray for further revealing and transformation of the
Kingdom of
God in the city. This prayer is hungry and incarnational: we don’t just
want to
pray “your will be done on earth as it is in heaven”, we also want to
be
co-workers with God through the Holy Spirit in bringing this about.
The
movement is
twofold. Firstly it looks like people from all churches and backgrounds
gathering to pray, 24/7. Sheffield Prayer Centre is located in the city
centre
with a room similar to a House of Prayer or a 24/7 Boiler Room. It is
important
to emphasise that the prayer centre is not a church, but rather a place
of
prayer for people from all churches.
They are based in the
city centre partly because they wish to incorporate with the many
groups
that are
praying for the city in locations all around it, creating a covering
over the
city. Also, their hope is that as people encounter Jesus and are filled
with the
values of the Kingdom of God through the Spirit (as the disciples were
filled
with the values of the Kingdom through the teaching and demonstration
of Jesus
in person), and as these values conflict with situations all around in
the city
centre, there will be a birthing of mission in the city and a
groundswell of
new life in existing mission (whether projects, or individuals on
missions of
love).
Secondly, it
looks like resourcing groups and
churches that wish to run prayer rooms and days. They are available to
help
facilitate any prayer events anywhere in Sheffield, where there is a
need for
support. They can help in terms of making it known, providing materials
and
people, and supporting wherever necessary. They are keen to serve the
church in
Sheffield in every way they can.
