Overseas - Zambia
The Eccles has a couple of different links with Zambia; firstly Phil and Tess:
Hello, we're Phil and Tess Bonnett and we are spending a year working at Kalene Hospital in
north-western Zambia. We both work as doctors, Phil in anaesthetics and Tess in maternity and
women's health, and we have felt for a long time that God is calling us to work in Africa. We
have been part of the Eccles for about ten years now and we really appreciate the way that the
Eccles has kept us acountable to that vision and really sent us out with so much love,
encouragement and support! Whilst we are at Kalene we hope to work with local staff to improve
the safety of anaesthetics at the hospital and to develop the maternity services, and also to get
involved with the life of the hospital community and local church. We hope that this year will just
be the beginning as God shows us more about His plans for our future!
The Eccles also has links with the Lifespring Foundation in Ndola, which Baz and
Linda
saw first hand in 2005 and believed that they and the Eccles could
support in some way.
The main emphasis of the work is practical support & empowering
solutions that impact the issues of poverty, HIV & Aids for
widows,
orphans & vulnerable families in Zambia.
We hope to look at other ways we can support this work in the future by sending further volunteers and teams as well as financial backing where possible. Check out www.thelifespringfoundation.com
