DNA
DNA serves churches, develops leaders and makes 21st century disciples.
DNA is an exciting 11 month journey of church based discipleship in the
context of mission. It is for those who recognise their desire to be
useful and fruitful in the kingdom of God but who are also humble
enough to recognise their need for development.
The Eccles has a long relationship with DNA and we have had a number of
DNA students at the Eccles.
"I still find DNA to be a hugely important period in my life. In fact
it would be difficult to imagine having not done it. There have been
building blocks laid down which will serve me well for a long time, and
I am certainly a freer person better able to reflect God because of the
experience of having done DNA. I was involved in youth work,
volunteering with The Besom in Sheffield, working on a homeless food
programme, and getting involved in other bits and pieces. I’ve found
these practical sides to DNA have played a role in years to come. I
work as a youth worker, helped through the experience gained during
DNA. I also continue to work with The Besom," Josh Christie
DNA+
DNA+ is DNA's second year programme, set up for the further training
and development of those who have completed a DNA year and are growing
in their calling and leadership.
"I
ended up doing DNA+ this year because it provided an opportunity to
have some extra investment from the DNA team which I knew would be
helpful for me, whilst also supporting me in a project at work to
provide more in activity and accommodation provision for young
unaccompanied asylum seekers...There has been a big focus on really
digging up the core of who are, finding out what our root passions are
and letting them stir us, finding out something of what God has put in
us." Josh Christie
